Xapo Card Benefits and Rewards
Xapo Card offers 0.2% – 1% cashback, paid in Bitcoin (BTC).
Your cashback is calculated based on the purchase amount in USD, then converted into Bitcoin and credited to your BTC balance. Rewards are paid automatically on the 5th of each month, once transactions have settled.
The cashback rate depends on where the merchant is located and which card you have:
| Merchant Location | Card Type | Cashback |
| EU Countries | Any Card | 0.2% |
| Outside Europe | Plastic of Virtual Card | 0.5% |
| Outside Europe | Metal Card | 1% |
There is no monthly cashback cap, which is rare among crypto cards. The only limit is the $300,000 monthly spend limit, meaning you could earn up to $3,000 cashback per month at 1%.
Reality CheckAlthough other cards may advertise higher cashback rates, entry-level users with 1,000 USD in assets typically receive much lower cashback rates from those cards. When compared at the entry-level tier, Xapo Card's 1% cashback offers more value:
| Xapo Card | Industry Average1 | |
| Entry Level Cashback | 1% | 1% |
| Entry Level Cashback Monthly Cap | 3,000 USD | 60 USD |
In addition, your Xapo Card includes 1 free airport lounge visit per year. After that, each visit costs $35 per person (guests also $35).
Xapo Card is a Debit Card
Xapo Card is a debit card, connected to your chosen asset account on Xapo platform. Alongside, Xapo offers you a personal bank account. You'll receive a USA-based bank account number, issued in your name, which is a nice additional option to have.
Useful:Some crypto card companies only allow fiat deposits from accounts that are directly in your name. With Xapo, third party senders are able to deposit funds into your bank account, which means you can receive fiat withdrawals from exchanges or receive salary payments.
It Comes in Both Physical and Virtual Forms
You can get Xapo Card in both physical and virtual versions, a feature only available with 30% of crypto cards. They'll mail you the physical card, and you can instantly get the virtual card online after completing KYC Identity Verification.
Wondering about the perks of each card type? Here are some highlights:
Physical Card | Virtual Card |
|---|---|
| ATM Withdrawals | Second Card Number |
| Required for Car Rentals, Hotels | Instant Availability |
| Useful When Phone Dies, or no Wifi | Freeze for Safety |
| Backup Payment Method | Set Lower Spend Limits |
Cost to Order: 0 USD | Cost to Order: 0 USD |
You will find the physical Xapo Card useful for in-person purchases, while the virtual card will be perfect for online transactions like subscriptions.

Cashback rewards are a great way to earn back some of the money you spend on your card and is an important consideration as well. Out of the three, KAST Card offers the best cashback rewards of up to 8%. The cashback rewards for Xapo Card and Ether.fi Card are not as high.

Xapo Card ATM Fees: The Real Cost of Cashing Out
Local ATM Withdrawals in USD
Here's a breakdown of the fees you'll face when making local ATM withdrawals with your Xapo Card:
Starting with an initial amount of 200 USD in BTC, the ATM withdrawal with Xapo Card will cost you a total of ~7.2 USD (3.6% of 200 USD), resulting in a final cash withdrawal of 192.8 USD in hand.
Doesn't Xapo Card Offer Free ATM Withdrawals?
Yes, Xapo offers free ATM withdrawals for up to 100 USD per month, which is lower than the typical 200 USD offered by other cards.
When they say 'free', they are only referring to their ATM Withdrawal Fee, which will be waived for the first 100 USD withdrawn per month. In our example, if you withdraw 200 USD, this waiver saves you 2 USD, reducing your local ATM withdrawal cost to around 5.2 USD, compared to the standard cost of approximately 7.2 USD.
International non-USD ATM Withdrawals
Things will get significantly worse for International ATM Withdrawals. If you're out of country and cashing out with your Xapo Card, here's what it will look like:
For an international withdrawal using your Xapo Card with an initial 200 USD in BTC, you'll incur fees totaling ~13.2 USD (6.6% of 200 USD), leaving you with 186.8 USD in the equivalent foreign currency.
Reality CheckCompared to other crypto cards, Xapo Card is more cost-effective for both local and international ATM withdrawals:
| Cost with Xapo Card | Cost with Other Cards | |

| International ATM Withdrawals | ~13.2 USD (6.6% of 200 USD) | ~18 USD (9% of 200 USD) |
From all crypto cards that we reviewed, Trade Republic Card, Holyheld Card and Bit2Me Card offer the cheapest local ATM withdrawals (2.2%, 2.5% and 2.7% of 200 USD respectively), while OWNR Card scores the worst, landing last on the list with a total local ATM withdrawal cost of 9% of 200 USD.
